Welcome

Local specialist engineering company, Reliance Precision, would like to improve its facilities through a redevelopment of its Lepton-based site.

To support future growth, we are proposing a significant investment which will provide modern facilities, create new jobs, and allow us to build upon our success as a specialist engineering company and local employer.

Following the acquisition of International House, we would like to submit a combined planning application covering both sites. As part of our longer-term expansion plan, Rowley Mills and International House would function as separate, standalone parts of the Reliance operation.

Before a planning application is submitted to Kirklees Council, we want to hear views from the community. You can have your say by completing a feedback survey.

The development sites

  • Rowley Mills – established site for 40 years.
  • International House – developed site with manufacturing building and car park. Paxman Scalp Cooling will vacate International House by the end of 2026 and move to another location. Planning approval has already been granted in 2022 to redevelop this site. Our proposal will retain and enact this approval.
  • Both development sites can be considered ‘grey belt’ – whilst not allocated for employment allocation, they are almost entirely developed and established as manufacturing sites.
  • Trees and shrubs line both sites, protect views and enhance landscaping.
